Highways England are proposing to renew the road markings on the A1 Junction 79 North Brunton roundabout and its approaches.
The works will take two nights Saturday 3rd July and Sunday 4th July to complete, weather permitting. Works hours will be 8:00pm to 6:00am.
In order to carry out these works safely and efficient sections of the roundabout will be closed partially with diversion routes in operation.
Please see below plans showing the proposed closures on the roundabout and the associated diversion routes.
During the closure of the eastern section of the North Brunton roundabout, traffic wishing to go to Great Park or wish to join the A1 northbound will be diverted on the A1 southbound entry-slip to join the A1 southbound, taking exit at the A1 Fawdon southbound exit-slip, Fawdon circulatory, on to the A1 Fawdon northbound entry-slip to join A1 northbound and from there they will continue with their journeys.
During the closure of the western section of the North Brunton roundabout, traffic wishing to go to Gosforth or wish to join the A1 southbound will be diverted on the A1 northbound entry-slip to join the A1 northbound, taking exit at the A1 Seaton Burn northbound exit-slip, on to the A1 Seaton Burn southbound entry-slip to join the A1 southbound and from there they will continue with their journeys.
Please note that during the road markings renewal works there will be no other works/ traffic management at this location including any works associated to the A1 Scotswood to North Brunton scheme.
