The new playing pitches delivered by the NGP Consortium on land to the north of the former Sage building have now been formally handed over to Newcastle City Council in support of Great Park Academy. This marks an important milestone in the continued development of community and educational facilities within NGP.
The new facility provides a range of high-quality outdoor sports amenities, including a rugby pitch, senior football pitch, U15/U16 football pitch, cricket field, and a grass running track. These facilities will play a key role in supporting sport, physical activity and wellbeing for students, whilst enhancing the wider sporting infrastructure available within the local area.
The playing fields will primarily be used by Great Park Academy, however it is intended that they will become available for community use and hire in due course (alongside other Academy facilities). This will create additional opportunities for local sports clubs, community groups and residents to access quality sporting facilities close to home.
