New Community Wildlife Initiative

We are thrilled to welcome Alex Reynolds to the Great Park in her role as Northumberland Wildlife Trust’s Community Wildlife Outreach Officer, working part-time in a dedicated role for Newcastle Great Park.

Alex says:

I started in January 2022 and have spent my first few weeks getting to know the area and building partnerships with both people and businesses.

My background includes biodiversity and conservation studies. I have also worked in natural sciences and engagement roles for several years and will use these skills to deliver nature-based activities with residents to highlight the amazing wildlife on the Great Park.

I’ll be providing regular activities for all ages and interests, such as nature walks to learn about bats, birds and plants, scavenger hunts, hands-on bug hotel building and mental health and wellbeing activities, and will be planning a programme of events.

I also aim to work with residents to raise the profile of the Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) for Newcastle Great Park, and will make it accessible and relevant through events, activities, talks and clubs (amongst other things).

Keep checking this website, the Newcastle Great Park newsletter and other social media channels for regular updates.

I’m always open to suggestions, so if there is a wildlife, nature or gardening topic that interests you or if you have ideas you would like support with please email me at alexandra.reynolds@northwt.org.uk
