Nexus are currently consulting on proposed changes to the Q3 (NGP Town Centre) and 35 (Red House Farm, for Melbury/Featherstone Grove) services.
Full details of the background and rationale can be found here.
In summary:
The proposed plan is for Nexus to stop providing its financial support for service Q3 to divert via Osborne Road. This will result in it operating via Great North Road as per the previous route. This will provide NGP with faster, more direct journeys to/from Newcastle but would remove the direct connection to Jesmond/Osbourne Road (which would be made by changing to the new 35 on Gosforth High Street).
The money saved would then allow Nexus to pay for changes to service 35. This would operate between Red House Farm/Fawdon via Gosforth High Street, Osborne Road (new), Newcastle city centre and start/finish at Central Station (new).
In addition, there will be an hourly service reinstated on evenings and Sundays, between Pilgrim Street and Fawdon via Osborne Road, Gosforth High Street & Kenton only (i.e. not serving Central Station, John Street/Welford Avenue or Red House Farm).
Nexus would welcome any feedback on these proposed service amendments.
