Changes to NGP Buses from 30th August 2026

Commencing Sunday 30^th August 2026, Stagecoach’s Service 49 will be enhanced to serve more areas of NGP and provide additional links to Newcastle via Gosforth.

Extended Route
Service 49 will continue to operate on a one-way, anti-clockwise loop around NGP, but will be extended to serve more of the development.

From the junction of Wagonway Drive and Primrose Lane (Spine Road Junction 4), buses will:

• Turn right onto Primrose Lane and travel west along its full length;
• Continue south along the Spine Road between Junctions 5 and 6;
• Turn left at the traffic lights onto Roseden Way; and
• Travel east along Roseden Way towards the Town Centre, before rejoining the existing Service 49 route at the junction with Wagonway Drive.

This means Service 49 will travel along Primrose Lane in the opposite direction to Service X47.

Town Centre Stopping Arrangements
As a result of this extended route, Service 49 can no longer serve the main Town Centre layby bus stop on Wagonway Drive. For all journeys towards Newcastle via Gosforth, please use the bus stop about 150m to the east, around the corner on Roseden Way (next to the Town Centre car park).

Timetable Enhancements
Service 49 will operate hourly throughout the day to Newcastle via Gosforth, with additional peak time enhancements during school term time to/from Regent Centre. Sunday journeys will be also introduced following requests for these links.

Please note there will be no changes to Service X47 between Newcastle-NGP via Kingston Park, which will continue to operate up to every 15 minutes during the week.
