Cell B1 – Playing Pitches
The sports pitches to serve the proposed Great Park Academy are underway again with earthworks and drainage taking place in the coming months. The academy is due to open in September 2025, when the playing pitches are also due to be ready for use.
The wider cell surrounding the playing fields is being developed with landscaping, a footway and bridleway connectivity being delivered also. The completion of these works is expected to be towards the end of 2025.
Cell C3 – Ecological Mitigation
The next phase of ecology mitigation works are due to take place in Cell C3.
Cell C3, phase 1 (to the east of the Dark Plantation) was implemented in 2020, featuring bridleways and welly walks for recreational use and many features for ecology to thrive.
The next phase of this project, to the north and west of the Dark Plantation, is commencing with earthworks proposed to start in July/August to create strategic landforms. This is to be followed with a landscaping scheme throughout the main planting seasons across 2024-2025 which will see a range of woodlands, grasslands and habitats being created.
Access to Cell C3 will remain prohibited during this process to allow the landscaping to develop and establish. It is expected all walking/bridleway routes within Cell C3 will be open and available by Summer 2025.
