The A1 Scotswood to North Brunton Major Project team would like us to keep you informed of up and coming overnight closures along the A1, which will be carried out this month (June).
Completed in May:
Throughout May they have been working on both the northbound and southbound verges between J77-79 with their earthworks and drainage teams. They have been removing existing drainage runs and installing new along the length of the carriageway.
South of J77, they have been continuing our work in the central reservation to install the new concrete safety barrier and grouting existing mine workings.
They have also completed a number of cross-carriageway crossings to enable ducting and street lighting cable to be installed along the length of the concrete safety barrier, which will feed their new street lighting columns.
Coming up in June:
In the northern section, between J77-79, the teams will continue with drainage and earthworks along both the northbound and southbound verges. They will also begin installing the new street lighting columns along the length of the concrete barrier.
In the southern section, between J77-74, they will continue install the concrete barrier in the central reservation, complete our grouting works and begin removing the temporary barrier and place it in the verge. They will then establish our verge closures in the southern section and begin site clearance works along each verge.
Full details on planned closures up until the 9th July can be found HERE. These could be subject to change due to adverse weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
