Getting Around by Bike

Cycling is a great way to get around. There has never been a better time to get out on your bike whether for a solo ride, or in a group with friends or family.

Cycle Routes

There is a network of dedicated, off-road cycle paths throughout NGP, including the mainly traffic-free Brunton Lane running through the centre of the site and cycle paths running alongside the full length of the Spine Road from the A1 through to Kingston Park Road.

Local Facilities

Many local facilities are within easy reach of NGP by bike, including the variety of shops in our Town Centre, plus those slightly further afield at Brunton Park and Kingston Park.

Local Metro stations have cycle parking facilities available, making cycling as part of a longer trip an easy option.

Newcastle city centre can be reached by bike in around 30 minutes, which when considering the time it can take to navigate through traffic and find a parking spot, cycling could perhaps be quicker than a journey in the car if just ‘nipping in to town’.

Planning Your Route

Wherever you’re going, you can plan your cycle journeys in advance using Transport North East’s ‘Go Smart, Go Active’ resources, including an interactive cycle map for the entire North East, which offers you a variety of route options
