In the past few days a letter was posted out to residents regarding overdue rent and service charges. To clarify, this letter has been sent to all residents who have not made adequate payments for invoices issued in 2017 and/or 2018. Along with this invoice an administration charge of £25 excl. VAT has been added to these accounts as stated would be the case on the letter issued on the 14th September 2018.
It was agreed in September with all parties that this charge would be issued to cover all administration costs relating to recovering the outstanding monies and to ensure that the burden of this cost was not passed on to the residents that had already made arrangements to pay any outstanding balance.
We are extremely disappointed with a number of responses from a small percentage of residents to the recent letter and the abuse that the Project Office has received in the past two days. Staff have been threatened and some residents have used foul, abusive and threatening behaviour. This is obviously not acceptable and we will not tolerate such behaviour and if necessary report matters to the police. We would like to make it clear that we are providing a service to ensure that the Great Park is maintained and managed as set out in the transfer documents and it is our duty to carry out this recovery to ensure that we can continue our work. Indeed, we are protecting the majority of residents and businesses’ who have paid in full and have met their legal obligations.
If any residents raise queries disputing the administration charge that has been added with valid reasoning we will assess this on a case by case basis, but we would like to reiterate that this was clearly stated on the letter sent out in September.
We trust that this clarifies the matter.
