Apologies for this update being slightly delayed. We are continuing to work closely with OpenReach and the residents to provide fibre broadband to the whole of Newcastle Great Park. There have been updates across all of the remaining cabinets which I will detail below:
Cabinet 21 – Cell C
OpenReach have provided the costing for this cell. Unfortunately the costing is substantially more than expected, therefore the resident/community lead is liaising with the project manager of this proposal to see if we can bring the costings in line with the other cabinets on the estate. There are still more than enough residents in the area to cover all of the costs with government funding, with the main term being that you must sign up for 1 year with whichever supplier you wish once the FTTP services are available to order. The community lead would like to start collecting the sign up information again in order to make a seamless decision once a new price is agreed, so please get in touch with me, or him directly if you live in cell C and would like to sign up to the government funding scheme so that we can get FTTP installed. You can contact the Project Office directly, or the community lead via email@example.com. If you would like to know more about the terms of the gigabit funding, you can find them here: https://gigabitvoucher.culture.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/GBVS-Beneficiary-Terms-and-Conditions-v4.1.pdf?fbclid=IwAR1YAmcUQhSjTSwNvyuZ7-qp59k_ckB96d9Nv8yiUOQuZ4GL_ZyNBLQVfhc
Cabinet 23 – Cell F
This relocation is still to be agreed with OpenReach to ensure all parties are happy with the proposal. Once all parties are in agreement, we will ensure the local residents are made aware of the plans to relocate the cabinet. Over the past couple of weeks we have chased OpenReach to resolve this matter and we hope to catch up this week to have our queries resolved so that we can move forward with the relocation.
Cabinet 28 – Cell E
The residents covered in this area are in the process of having fibre to the premise infrastructure planned and implemented. The planned completion date for this project is still on target for 9th September 2019, 2 months earlier than the original date, and we are still working closely with OpenReach to see if there is any scope to expedite this installation further. As you may have noticed, there have been contractors in the area running the main spine of fibre through Roseden Way, Merlin Chase, and Osprey Walk.
We would like to provide regular monthly updates on this until all of Newcastle Great Park has access to high speed internet. The next update will be available on 7th June 2019. If you would like to get more information on the matter, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
