BRUNTON LANE - ROAD CLOSURE

The Brunton Lane public highway is to be closed as of Wednesday 15th July 2009 the road will remain closed to vehicular traffic for the foreseeable future. This effectively means that traffic will not be able to pass through Brunton Lane as barriers are to be erected to the West of Brunton Mews and to the East of Hawthorn Grange.

Road closure signs have been erected at both the East and West entrances to Brunton Lane to advise public highway users that the road is not passable, with the exception of access for residents and deliveries to dwellings situated adjacent to Brunton Lane.

This closure, in the short term, will also apply to cyclists and pedestrians however, in the longer term Brunton Lane will be will be re-opened to pedestrians and cyclists when construction activities for new estate roads are concluded in November’09.

Newcastle City Council, as the Highway Authority, have taken all required actions to effect this closure including the posting of statutory notices advising the intent to close Brunton Lane as public highway from 14th July 2009.
