Newcastle Great Park - Where Living Works
Imagine a life where travelling to work could simply be a walk in the park. Imagine an environment where children can play safely and you can run, stroll or pedal through pathways into the countryside. Imagine a place where shops for everyday needs are on your doorstep and you can dine and enjoy community facilities just a stones throw away from your ideal home.
Imagine a place where living works - Newcastle Great Park
Newcastle Great Park (NGP) is an impressive sustainable urban development situated in the North East of England. Uniquely positioned in a rural setting, the park will encompass high quality residential dwellings, commercial premises and community facilities offering universal appeal.
Just three miles from Newcastle city centre, the development already has a significant number of homes built and occupied by residents who desire a great new way of living. When completed NGP will offer a wide range of contemporary housing, a high quality business park and a fully developed town centre incorporating retail, health, leisure, hotel and community facilities.
Half of the 1,200 acre site is being landscaped to create a rich mix of woodland and meadowland with hills, vales and streams- all of which can be enjoyed by residents and visitors to Newcastle Great Park. With the inclusion of wide open spaces, cycle paths and walkways the park promotes a healthy lifestyle for everyone to enjoy.
Newcastle Great Park is one of the most accessible locations in the North East from air, rail, road and sea. The development benefits from an entirely new infrastructure of road systems, cycle-ways and its own dedicated public transport services.
The new dual carriageway access road directly links the park to an improved A1 and a dedicated bus route links the NGP Park + Ride site to the Regent Centre METRO interchange and other destinations in Newcastle City Centre. The development is also close to Newcastle International Airport which has great appeal on many different levels.
Residents of Newcastle Great Park can look forward to a healthy future without congestion or reliance upon a car with sustainable travel. NGP is currently working with organisations such as Newcastle City Council, Nexus and bus companies to satisfy future travel needs which will include upgrading bus services to meet travel demand, improving cycle routes into the city and improving access for wheelchair users.
The driving force behind the project is the NGP Consortium, comprising Persimmon Homes and Taylor Wimpey Developments, with the active support and involvement of Newcastle City Council and the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment.
